- The potential for the therapeutic relationship to develop sufficient trust and safety to enable a different experience of ‘self with other’.
- Understanding sexual minority clients within the social context. In particular looking at the Lesbian, Gay & bi-sexual experience.
- Working with sexual minority clients from a non-pathologising perspective.
The aim of this course is to explore the experiences of sexual minority clients (and our attitudes to these) in order to engender a more effective ‘working alliance’. Teaching methods include taught presentation, exploration of LGB experiences, clinical case studies and the implications for practical application.
About the Tutor
Philip Reilly MA, Dip Psych, UKCP Reg, BACP Accred
Philip has over 20 years’ experience in both the statutory and
voluntary sectors of mental health. He is currently in private practice
in North London, works as a supervisor for a North London counselling
service and manages a counselling service in South East London. Philip
is a graduate of the Minster Centre.
Entry
The workshop is for practising counsellors and psychotherapists, or
senior trainees with clinical experience.
