SELF-HARM & SUICIDE This one-day course
will be run twice on: |

This training will explore the meaning of adolescents and adults who self-harm, have attempted suicide or make threats to do so. The day will cover:-
- NICE guidelines for treatment and management
- Risk assessments
- Confidentiality
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team setting, and in private practice
- Countertransference responses – personal and professional
- Containing our own levels of anxiety
Training methods include, teaching, case discussion, group discussion and experiential work.
About The Tutor
Julia Denington, Dip and MA Integrative Psychotherapy, UKCP
Prior to qualifying as a psychotherapist, Julia worked for 15 years as a social worker, within the voluntary sector, social services and for the NHS. Julia has experience of working with homeless people, drug addiction, child protection, and eating disorders.
Julia has worked for many years in a CAMHS service, undertaking risk assessments for young people who have self-harmed/attempted suicide and been admitted to hospital. She has extensive experience of working with people presenting with a range of mental health problems, where self-harm and suicide has featured. She maintains a private practice in Kew, Surrey.
