Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is currently perhaps the most widely talked about and recommended form of therapy. This course is intended for practitioners trained in other modalities who would like to know more about CBT: its origins, methods and applications.
During the weekend we will explore:
• The theoretical development of CBT and its basic principles
• The distinctive features of CBT and how these relate to and
differ from other approaches
• Some key techniques used in CBT
• Applications to particular psychological difficulties and
the NICE guidelines
• Recent developments
Teaching methods will include presentations by the tutor, discussion of case study examples, and experiential exercises.
Lissie Wright is an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor who has undertaken further training in CBT. She maintains a private practice in Cambridgeshire, as well as working as a school counsellor and with a number of EAP providers. Her specialist interests include working with domestic violence, the use of cognitive behavioural approaches within integrative therapy, the application of biological concepts to therapeutic thinking, and the impact of work place culture on individual mental health.
