Training at The Minster Centre

Student Representation, Guidance and Feedback

Communication

A high degree of two-way staff-student communication is encouraged at the Minster Centre where students have opportunities to interact with teaching staff to gain guidance and offer feedback.

A Student Handbook, guidelines and codes of ethics are made available to all trainees. A special booklet called Aids to Study offers useful information and hints on how to meet the requirements for essays, case studies, dissertations and external assessment throughout the training. These and many other supportive course materials are available on the Student Intranet.

Feedback

Students are also kept fully aware of their progress and of any concerns which may arise, and are able to discuss these during personal tutorials. Students are asked for feedback on their experience of individual modules and on the courses in general.

Representation

Additionally, students elect representatives who meet with staff at a Board of Studies meeting three times a year. All feedback is taken into account during annual reviews of the training programmes. All problems regarding student progress, including relational difficulties between staff and students, are resolved first through personal communication and then if necessary with strict adherence to the Minster Centre and/or UKCP and BACP codes of ethics. Meetings with senior tutors and student representatives are arranged and minuted. Students taking an MA course also have access to the Middlesex University Appeals Procedure.
