| Training at The Minster Centre Client Work Experience
The Minster Centre low-cost referral service is able to support and assist our students in finding training clients. When this is not possible, it is considered the student's responsibility to find their own training clients to present at their supervision group. |

Placement
The placement required as part of the diplomas is also an important source of client work experience, enabling students to build up the hours they need towards BACP accreditation or UKCP registration. Usually clinical supervision is provided by the placement organisation for the client work you do there and the Minster Centre’s supervision continues to be used as part of your training experience.
Client experience may be obtained: in the student's place of work
, in the case of a practising psychiatrist or mental health worker
for example, or through voluntary work e.g. a placement with a local
MIND or GP surgery. When a student is ready, they will be given a
licence to practice by the Minster Centre to enable them to get their
own private clients for which they must insure themselves. It is normal
practice that until qualified, students must use a Minster Centre
approved supervisor, though their private client work is not assessed
as part of their training.
It is the student's responsibility to decide how they will obtain
client experience (normally this is discussed in the supervision group),
and pursue opportunities to build it. Students should choose a placement
that provides an opportunity to apply their learning from the Minster
Centre and not, for example, a drug clinic that uses a model of therapy
which is not compatible with the model presented in their course.
