What does Training at The Minster Centre have to Offer?
Holistic integrative training

We specialise in Integrative training, focusing on mind, emotion, body and spirit within a social context and offer a specific map of integration. Our training offers an active engagement in the main psychotherapy traditions:
  • Humanistic – the person to person relationship
  • Psychodynamic – the importance of the unconscious
  • The Body – the physical basis of emotional experience, growth and change
  • Transpersonal – experience beyond the factual and material
  • whilst addressing the impact of the social and political environment.
Professional accreditation

Diploma courses:
  • are accredited by the key UK professional bodies - the BACP and the UKCP
  • can lead to a Master's Degree awarded by Middlesex University
Flexibility

Minster Centre courses are designed in a modular format, to allow you to train at a pace that best suits your needs. We will accredit prior learning for those who have trained elsewhere and wish to extend or update their qualifications, depending on the quality of previous training.

We also offer flexible methods of payment including a monthly instalment plan to help spread the cost of fees
.

Career support

The Centre’s Referral Service can provide clients to help you build a client base once qualified. We offer a range of courses:
  • from weekend workshops to post-qualification diplomas
  • to support further learning and career development, essential as continuing professional development studies become a requirement for accredited practitioners.

Real experience

Access to training clients is provided through
our Referral Service, as part of the diploma.
We have comprehensive information on
placement opportunities to help you attain
the client hours needed for diploma
completion and thereafter, professional
accreditation.

We run two cutting-edge projects – one
working on domestic violence and one
working with refugees and asylum seekers.
Placement opportunities may also be
available for suitable students.

No hidden costs

Unlike some trainings, supervision is an integral part of the diploma training at the Minster Centre, not an additional and unexpected cost.

Students do pay separately for their individual therapy, but the cost of all other compulsory course components is included in our training fees.

New Beginnings or Personal Development

Our Foundation training offers a comprehensive grounding in counselling and psychotherapy.

This means:
  • the chance to really engage with the field before deciding whether it is a career for you.
  • access to a recognized professional diploma training without the need for previous experience or qualifications in a similar field.
  • a certificate course for those in related professions where counselling skills are an asset or boost career prospects
  • or simply the opportunity for further personal development.

Further information on all these matters can be found in the links to the right and in the Prospectus. These should help you to decide whether training at the Minster Centre is right for you. Prospective students are encouraged to attend one of our free Introductory Evenings.
